Welcome!

I'm honored you're here.

Nayana Design Studio began in Brooklyn, NY many years ago as my creative outlet after long days on Wall Street. Today, I'm now creating art in my home in Minneapolis, MN but the heart & mission of my work remains: to make all celebrations a little more joyful, while honoring the beauty of the world around us.

I follow my intuition when I create. I believe in the cosmic magic of the universe. I wish you abundant joy & love in all you do.

I invite you to connect & be a part of my community.

Meet Nayana

I am a creative at heart & have been a lifelong dreamer. Deeply inspired by my Indian heritage, each of my hand-drawn patterns has threads connecting to timeworn traditions. I am a self-taught artist and create art in many different media and styles, focusing primarily on watercolor & ink on paper, as well as digital art. Botanicals make my heart sing; truly the cornerstone of my work & an element infused in many of the motifs I create. I love & live for bold vibrant patterns - which are at the heart of my products.
My designs are often created in the heart & center of my home – my dining room table – where I also love celebrating all occasions – big & small – with my family and friends.

My parents instilled in me the values of hard work, creativity, & celebration and fostered my love of design from a young age. My family’s ancestral roots are in the artistic hub of Madhubani by the Ganges river in northeastern India and I am proud to be a first generation American; I began kindergarten in Northern California not speaking a word of English.

American traditions like Christmas and the ritual of gift wrapping, which I came to love, were building blocks as I bridged cultures from an early age. I’ve soaked in the lush vibes of Louisiana, the crisp lines of Scandinavian design in Minnesota, and immersed myself in the creative matrix of New York City and Brooklyn for nearly twenty years - my artwork is woven with these diverse stylistic threads.

I'm a proud alumna of Wellesley College and The Blake School, two places that are dear to me. I have enjoyed various chapters of a multi-dimensional career - from over 15 years on Wall Street and corporate finance to cinematic art direction & business consulting. Currently loving a portfolio career, I work in Executive Search for mid-size companies, private equity & non-profit, while also running my own design business.

My two decades in NYC made a lasting impact, with deep friendships& personal growth, as I immersed myself in the global & cultural hub. I not only built my career in NYC, but I  also met my husband, Michael, there, too (in Brooklyn, to be exact). As a musician, educator & entrepreneur, Michael is a source of inspiration & is my biggest champion. Today, we call both Minneapolis and Fort Greene, Brooklyn home.

Family is everything to me. The greatest gift in my life is living down the street from family - in one direction my lovely spirited mother, and in the other - my sister and her adorable family. It is an honor to not only carry on the legacy first instilled in me by my parents & grandparents, but also to share this with my niece & nephew as they learn & discover the world, too. A gift to behold.
